IVD Solutions

At AMT Medical, we provide cutting-edge In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) solutions to our healthcare partners through our portfolio of innovative IVD products.

Strong R&D capabilities driven by our in-house Doctorate Scientists and vast network of research institutional partners in Singapore, propel the rapid expansion of our IVD offerings. We always have our end-users i.e. patients and medical technologists in mind during our process of product invention. This is reflected in our IVD COVID-19 Direct RT-PCR test kits that are intricately designed to be compact, easy to use and bearing high sensitivity and supreme accuracy.

Our sophisticated world class IVD manufacturing infrastructure, consisting of spacious clean rooms that house 6 laminar flow hoods and 3 Biosafety Cabinets (BSC), 13 fridges/freezers, state-of-the-art robotic platforms and the most up-to-date Biomolecular Analytical Systems, has empowered us to achieve high production output and premium quality of our IVD products concurrently.

During this COVID-19 pandemic, we sought to meet the global demand for testing by up-scaling the manufacturing of our RESOLUTE 2.0 Direct RT-PCR COVID-19 diagnostic kit – the industry-first RNA-extraction free COVID-19 test kit. Its ability to entirely abrogate the RNA extraction step comes with the benefits of saving cost and time; and ridding the constraints in worldwide RNA extraction kits shortages which has impeded the ability for high-volume testing. RESOLUTE 2.0’s ready-to-use reagent cocktail allows crude Nasopharyngeal samples to be tested directly without prior pre-treatment, hence enabling a short turnaround time of 94 samples in about 60 minutes. In just 3 months, we have manufactured and delivered the RESOLUTE 2.0 tests kits for 1,000,000 tests to multiple diagnostics laboratories in Singapore, South-East Asia and internationally.

More information on RESOLUTE 2.0 COVID-19 test kit and RAVE (RESOLUTE 2.0’s complementary high throughput robotic system) can be found our Advanced-Covid-Test site.

Step 1 – Mixing

Very fine metal or ceramic powder is mixed with a thermoplastic polymer (known as the binder) to form a homogeneous mixture of ingredients. The mixture or feedstock is made into granulated pellets and directly fed into the injection machine.

Step 2 – Injection

During injection, the feedstock is heated and injected into the cavity of the mold. This allows the desired shapes and geometries to be formed. The molded part is known as the green part.

Step 3 – Debinding

The polymeric binder is removed thermally via the debinding process. The green part is subjected to the debinding process at a high temperature while maintaining its relative size and shape. The brown part consists of a powder skeleton that is brittle and porous.

Step 4 – Sintering

The final stage of the PIM process is sintering. During sintering, the brown part is heated to below its melting temperature. As sintering progresses, density increases, pores are eliminated and the part shrinks to achieve a dense and near-net shape component.
